In 1958 Arne Jacobsen designed the Swan chair for the lobby and lounge areas in the Royal
Hotel in Copenhagen.
In 1958 the Swan was an innovation it had no straight lines, only curves. A molded shell of
synthetic material on a swivel base in a star shape made of aluminum with a layer of cold foam covering the shell, which in turn was covered with fabric or leather. This original designer chair, thaat was born in Arne Jacobsen’s garage at home in Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen, has been produced by Fritz Hansen ever since.
My own experience: In a previous work, the swan chairs placed in different waiting areas for business meetings. They are quite popular among the waiting guests.
In Danish: I 1958 designede Arne Jacobsen Svane stolen til lobbyen og lounge-områderne i Royal Hotel i København.
venteområder for forretningsmøder. De er ganske populære blandt ventende gæster.
