Sct. Nicolai church is Copenhagen’s third oldest church and dates from the beginning of the 1200s. In 1795 the church was subjected to a large fire and in 1805 ceased its function as a church.
Since then the church has had various functions such as fire station, naval station and in 1957 established Knud Pedersen, an art library in the building.
It is free to visit the church.
My own experience: I have cycled and gone several times past the church, but I never been inside the church. It is a church that I highly recommend.
In Danish: Sct. Nicolai kirke er Købehavns tredje ældste kirke og den stammer fra begyndelsen i 1200-tallet. I 1795 blev kirken udsat for en stor brand og 1805 ophørte dens funktion som kirke.
Siden hen har kirken haft forskellige funktioner såsom brandstation, Orlogsstation og i 1957 etablerede Knud Pedersen et kunstbibliotek i bygningen.
Det er gratis at besøge kirken.
Mine egne erfaringer: Jeg har cyklet og gået adskillige gange forbi kirken, men jeg aldrig været
inden i kirken. Det er en kirke som jeg varmt anbefaler.
